Ereklasse Week 6 Recap: Gooi Edge Haagsche in Thriller as AAC Stun CAS

With so much at stake this past weekend in the Ereklasse, the teams didn’t disappoint. Round 6 brought drama, intensity, and one major upset that shook up the bottom of the table. From The Dukes’ statement win over Eemland to Gooi’s gritty triumph against the defending champions, it was a weekend that truly lived up to its billing.

Gooi Edge Haagsche in the Clash of Titans

All eyes were on The Hague for the headline fixture of the weekend Haagsche RC vs RC ’t Gooi and the contest more than delivered. In a match that felt like a final in October, both sides threw everything into the contest.

Haagsche, defending champions and unbeaten heading into the game, were determined to defend their home turf and avenge the heartbreak of their loss to Gooi in the final two seasons ago. But once again, it was Gooi who had the final say, snatching a 31–26 victory in a thrilling, high-tempo battle that swung back and forth until the last whistle.

Gooi’s forwards were immense at the breakdown, disrupting Haagsche’s rhythm and forcing key turnovers in the closing stages. Haagsche showed flashes of brilliance and power up front but ultimately couldn’t match Gooi’s composure under pressure.

The win sees RC ’t Gooi remain unbeaten and climb above Haagsche on the table a psychological edge that could be crucial as the season progresses. Haagsche, meanwhile, will feel they let one slip away, but their performance showed they remain title contenders.

The Dukes Dominate as Eemland Falter

If Haagsche vs Gooi was the emotional showdown of the weekend, then RC The Dukes vs RC Eemland was the tactical masterclass. The Dukes produced a ruthless display of control and creativity, running in tries from all angles to record an emphatic 46–18 victory over Eemland.

The result solidifies The Dukes’ place among the elite and underlines why they are considered serious championship challengers this season. Their attacking structure continues to impress strong set-pieces, sharp decision-making, and a confident backline that capitalized on nearly every opportunity.

Eemland, on the other hand, struggled to cope with the pace and precision of The Dukes’ play. Despite some bright moments, particularly in the first half, their defense crumbled under sustained pressure.

The result leaves Eemland with work to do if they want to stay in touch with the top three, while The Dukes now sit firmly in the race for top spot.

AAC Shock CAS in the Biggest Upset of the Round

At the other end of the table, the biggest surprise came from Sportpark Wouterland, where AAC winless so far this season pulled off a sensational 42–22 victory over CAS RC.

It was a spirited and determined performance from AAC, who showed that heart and hunger can overturn even the bleakest run of form. Their attacking play was fearless, their defense disciplined, and for the first time this season, they looked every bit a competitive Ereklasse side.

CAS, meanwhile, will be left frustrated, as unforced errors and missed tackles cost them dearly. The result lifts AAC off the bottom of the table and sends a clear message that no team can afford to take them lightly going forward.

DIOK Too Strong for Oisterwijk

RC DIOK continued their steady climb up the table with a solid 31–13 win away to Oisterwijk Oysters. It wasn’t the most glamorous performance, but it was efficient and disciplined. DIOK’s forwards dominated possession and controlled territory, grinding down Oisterwijk with patience and precision.

For Oisterwijk, the defeat marks a setback after a promising start to the season. Their inability to convert attacking opportunities into points proved costly once again. DIOK, however, will be encouraged by the maturity shown in closing out the match and will look to build on this momentum in Week 7.

RRC Roll Over BRC

In Breda, RRC made light work of BRC, storming to a 53–7 away victory in a one-sided affair. RRC’s backline ran riot, scoring freely and exploiting every defensive lapse from a struggling BRC side.

BRC’s campaign continues to look challenging, as they’ve now conceded over 300 points in six games. RRC, on the other hand, strengthened their mid-table standing and showed the attacking sharpness needed to challenge the teams above them.

Weekend Summary

Round 6 of the Ereklasse delivered everything fans could hope for passion, pace, and plenty of drama. Gooi’s victory over Haagsche has officially thrown the title race wide open, while The Dukes continue to quietly build an unbeaten campaign of their own.

Further down the ladder, AAC’s shock win has injected fresh energy into the bottom half, proving that no game is a foregone conclusion in this year’s fiercely competitive season.

As the league enters its middle phase, the question now looms: can Gooi maintain their perfect record, or will The Dukes or Haagsche strike back? One thing’s for certain the Ereklasse just got even more exciting.
