Dames Round 4 – AAC Make a Statement as Delft Edge RUS in a Thriller

Round 4 of the Dames Ereklasse brought no shortage of drama and high-scoring rugby across the Netherlands on Sunday. The competition continues to deliver unpredictable results, with AAC, Waterland, and Delft all making strong cases for early-season dominance.

At Sportpark Wouterland, defending champions AAC D1 reminded everyone why they lifted the trophy last season with a commanding 73-17 victory over Cas RC Ladies D1. AAC were ruthless from the start, combining pace and precision to run in try after try. Cas showed moments of resilience but struggled to contain the champions’ backline firepower. The result lifts AAC to the top of the table on points difference, marking a clear statement of intent after an uneven start to the campaign.

Meanwhile in Leiden, RC DIOK D1 hosted RC Waterland D1 in what turned out to be a fiercely contested battle between two physical, forward-dominated sides. DIOK edged the encounter 36-29, showing grit and discipline against a Waterland outfit packed with international experience. For Waterland, it’s a first loss of the season, but their attacking flair keeps them tied at the top of the standings with AAC on 15 points.

Over in Delft, the home side produced one of the weekend’s standout performances, holding off a late surge from RUS D1 to secure a narrow 17-14 victory. Delft continue to impress in their return to top-flight form, demonstrating not only attacking power but also defensive steel when it mattered most. With this result, they remain firmly in the title race—just two points off the top.

At Sportpark Rijnvliet, BRC D1 delivered a clinical performance, sweeping past URC D1 in a stunning 108-0 display. BRC’s dominance in both territory and possession was absolute, and their offensive structure continues to impress. The result cements their place among the frontrunners, sitting third with 14 points and the best attacking record in the competition so far.

After four rounds, the top four—AAC, Waterland, BRC, and Delft—are separated by just two points, setting up a thrilling battle as we head into the middle phase of the season. RUS remain in striking distance, while DIOK’s upset over Waterland shows they’re a side capable of disrupting the order.

At the other end, Cas RC Ladies and URC D1 are still searching for their first wins, but with plenty of rugby left to play, both teams will be eager to turn things around in the coming weeks.
