Dames Ereklasse – Round 1 Report

Amsterdam, 29 September, The women’s top flight in Dutch rugby burst back into action this weekend, and the tone was set immediately by the reigning champions. AAC D1 laid down a marker with a statement win over URC D1, sweeping aside the visitors from Utrecht 76–5 at Sportpark de Eendracht. A ruthless display of attacking rugby reminded everyone why the Amsterdammers lifted the trophy last season – fast, clinical, and utterly relentless from the first whistle.

Elsewhere, the standout contest came in Delft, where RC Delft D1 edged Cas RC Ladies D1 in a nail-biter, 34–29. Both teams threw everything into the match, trading scores and momentum until the final minutes. It was a showcase of the growing depth in the women’s game – competitive, hard-fought, and played with real heart.

In Breda, RC DIOK D1 got their campaign off to a strong start, defeating BRC D1 31–19. After a couple of transitional seasons, DIOK will be pleased with the early signs as they look to rediscover the form that took them to a final two years ago.

With just one round gone, the storylines are already writing themselves – champions flexing their muscles, rivals sharpening their edge, and tight contests showing the competitiveness of the league. There’s a long road ahead, but if this opening weekend is any indication, the 2025/26 Dames Ereklasse promises plenty of drama.
