Match Report: 14-Man Diok Edge Past The Hague in Intense Derby Battle

The Hague – Diok RC delivered a statement win in one of the Ereklasse’s fiercest rivalries, defeating The Hague RC 35–28 on the road — and doing so with only 14 men for the final 20 minutes.

Diok started strong, crashing over for a try from a driving maul within the opening five minutes. Emotions quickly boiled over as both teams exchanged early yellow cards, with the intensity reflecting the history between the two sides.

HRC answered with a converted try at the 10-minute mark, briefly taking a 7–5 lead. But Diok’s backline responded immediately, cutting through with fluid handling to restore the lead. By halftime, the visitors had built an impressive 24–7 cushion.

The second half saw no let-up in physicality. Diok’s aggressive line speed in defence continually disrupted HRC’s attacking flow. Even after being reduced to 14 men with 20 minutes left, Diok’s resilience shone through as they held on for a hard-fought 35–28 victory.
