Ereklasse Match Report: Haagsche RC vs The Dukes RC
Final Score: Haagsche RC 24 – 5 The Dukes RC
Haagsche RC opened their Ereklasse clash against The Dukes with a bang, igniting the match from the very first minute. Hooker Taffy Kahembe powered over the line off a clinical set-piece maul to put HRC ahead early. The early momentum was all Haagsche’s, dominating territory thanks to the pinpoint kicking of Ozzy White, who consistently pinned The Dukes deep in their own half.
Despite controlling most of the first quarter, the scoreboard remained at 7–0 for a large portion of the half, as The Dukes failed to capitalise on their opportunities inside Haagsche’s 22. Time and again, handling errors let them down at crucial moments.
Haagsche capitalised on their opponents’ mistakes, adding a second try with ten minutes to go before the break, extending their lead to 12–0. Then just before halftime, Amir Rademaker spotted a gap down the blindside of a driving maul and dashed over untouched to score. HRC went into the break firmly in control, leading 17–0.
The second half saw more balance between the sides. With the wind now in their favour, The Dukes hoped to claw back the deficit, but both teams were plagued by errors. The Dukes did manage to get on the scoreboard with a well-earned try, but Haagsche sealed the deal with a fourth and final score, closing the game out 24–5.
A commanding win for Haagsche RC, who executed their game plan with discipline and clinical finishing.
