Zaterdag 25 mei \u2013 Nationaal Rugby Centrum Amsterdam \u2013 Aftrap om 15:30<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alles staat op scherp. De grote finale van het seizoen staat voor de deur. Twee van de sterkste teams in het Nederlandse damesrugby \u2013 AAC Dames 1<\/strong> en RUS Dames 1<\/strong> \u2013 nemen het zaterdag tegen elkaar op voor de ultieme eer in de Ereklasse. De spanning stijgt, en de rugbywereld kijkt reikhalzend uit naar dit topduel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op dinsdag 20 mei<\/strong> bracht Dutch Rugby Magazine een bezoek aan de training van AAC Dames in Amsterdam om een kijkje achter de schermen te nemen bij de voorbereiding op deze allesbeslissende wedstrijd. De sfeer in het kamp was ontspannen en gefocust \u2013 alsof het een normale trainingsweek was voor een team dat precies weet wat hen te wachten staat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kalmte en Concentratie<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ondanks de enorme inzet bleef hoofdcoach Emil van Osch<\/strong> rustig. De staf leidde een gestructureerde en scherpe training met veel aandacht voor de details. Er hing een stille vastberadenheid in de lucht \u2013 een team dat de puntjes op de i zet, zonder alles om te gooien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDe afgelopen twee weken hebben we goed kunnen voorbereiden,\u201d vertelt Van Osch aan Dutch Rugby Magazine. \u201cDe oefenwedstrijd tegen Waterland was waardevol \u2013 het liet zien waar onze kracht ligt en waar we nog wat moesten bijschaven. Ik heb het gevoel dat we precies op het juiste moment pieken.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aan zijn zijde staat de altijd enthousiaste Kenn Waring<\/strong>, die dezelfde positieve toon aanslaat:
\u201cWe brengen dit weekend dezelfde intensiteit. We weten wie we zijn als team en zijn er klaar voor om dat te laten zien.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ervaring \u00e9n Gretigheid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Voor AAC is een finale geen onbekend terrein. De club stond al eerder in de Ereklasse Finale en beschikt dit jaar over een mooie mix van doorgewinterde speelsters en frisse talenten. Sommigen hebben al eens op dit podium gestaan, voor anderen wordt dit hun eerste grote finale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De leiding is in handen van de onverstoorbare aanvoerder Merel de Groot<\/strong> \u2013 die, zo liet ze ons lachend weten, g\u00e9\u00e9n familie is van de Nieuw-Zeelandse prop Ethan de Groot.
\u201cNee hoor, geen familie van Ethan,\u201d<\/strong> lachte ze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merel weet precies wat nodig is om een fysiek en tactisch sterk RUS te verslaan:
\u201cWe blijven doen wat we het hele seizoen hebben gedaan \u2013 met onze sterke voorwaartsen het gevecht aangaan en onze backs gebruiken om te \u2018razzle-dazzle\u2019 als de ruimte er is. We hebben de skills \u00e9n de spirit om dit te winnen.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

De vorige ontmoeting tussen AAC en RUS eindigde in een spectaculaire gelijkspel \u2013 een resultaat dat bij beide teams nog nazindert. Coach Emil gaf aan dat er toen wat combinaties werden uitgeprobeerd. Zaterdag is het echter menens \u2013 er zal niets achtergehouden worden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het komt nu allemaal aan op tachtig minuten<\/strong> rugby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stage is set. The season\u2019s grand finale is upon us. Two of the best teams in Dutch women’s rugby \u2013 AAC Dames 1<\/strong> and RUS Dames 1<\/strong> \u2013 will clash for the ultimate prize in Ereklasse women\u2019s rugby this Saturday, and anticipation is building to fever pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, 20 May<\/strong>, Dutch Rugby Magazine visited the AAC training ground in Amsterdam to get an inside look at their preparations ahead of the big dance. The atmosphere around the camp was composed and focused \u2013 business as usual for a team that knows the magnitude of what\u2019s coming, yet seems completely at ease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calm Heads, Clear Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Despite the high stakes, head coach Emil van Osch<\/strong> and his squad were not rattled. The coaching staff ran a sharp, structured session with a laser-like focus on detail. You could sense a quiet determination among the players \u2013 a squad tightening the screws, not reinventing the wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had a good two weeks of preparation,\u201d van Osch told Dutch Rugby Magazine. \u201cThe hit-out against Waterland gave us valuable insight \u2013 it showed us where we\u2019re strong and where we still had some polishing to do. I think we\u2019re peaking at just the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assisting him on the sidelines is the ever-enthusiastic Kenn Waring<\/strong>, who echoed the same energy and optimism:
\u201cWe\u2019ll bring the same intensity this weekend. We know what we\u2019re about, and we\u2019re ready to show it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experience Meets Hunger<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t uncharted territory for AAC. The club has featured in Ereklasse Finals before, and this year\u2019s squad brings a healthy balance of hardened veterans and exciting new faces. Several players have felt the pressure of a final before; for others, this will be their first taste of top-tier glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That mix is led by their no-nonsense captain, Merel de Groot<\/strong> \u2013 whose leadership, by the way, has nothing to do with her famous All Black namesake. \u201cNope, not related to Ethan,\u201d she laughed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Groot is under no illusions about what it\u2019ll take to beat a physical and tactical RUS side:
\u201cWe\u2019ll stick to what\u2019s worked all season \u2013 bash it up with our powerful forwards, then let our backs razzle-dazzle when the space opens up. We\u2019ve got the skills and the spirit to do this.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Rivalry Renewed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The last time AAC and RUS faced off, it ended in a thrilling draw \u2013 a result that left fans wanting more and both teams with points to prove. Coach Emil hinted that they were experimenting with combinations in that fixture. On Saturday, there\u2019ll be no holding back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything now comes down to 80 minutes of rugby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will AAC\u2019s physical dominance and flair edge them ahead? Or will RUS find that extra spark and spoil the Amsterdam party?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
